The Center for Water Resources Conservation and Development is a Vietnamese non profit organization established under the auspices of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA).
WARECOD’s goal is to promote sustainable use of water resources in Vietnam. Through our community development program, research projects and Vietnam Rivers Network, we work to improve lives and livelihoods of riverine communities, encourage the balanced use of water resources, and make the public aware of the negative impacts of dams and destructive river development projects on local communities.
Vision: We consider rivers and water resources to be one of our most precious assets, and we believe that everyone has a responsibility to protect these valuable resources. We envision a world where people are aware of the value of water resources and cooperate together in solidarity to conserve and ensure their equitable and sustainable use.
Mission: Our organization’s mission is to protect Vietnam’s water resources to ensure the well-being of river ecosystems, to sustain the richness of biodiversity, and ensure the prosperity of the livelihoods of communities dependent upon these resources. We aim to foster a cooperative spirit among people to work together to ensure a sustainable future.
Strategic planning to 2020:
- Develop Vietnam Rivers Network to be a multilateral forum towards sustainable use of water resources.
- Conduct research, training, advocacy and consultancy on the rational use of water resources in Vietnam
- Conduct water-related development projects, support sustainable livelihoods for
riverine marginalized communities, and promote the adaptation of these communities to the conditions of climate change.
- Cooperate with both domestic and overseas organizations in conducting projects related
